BUENOS AIRES, Aug. 24 (Xinhua) -- Argentine judoka Paula Pareto on Monday defeated two-time world champion for the women's 48kg crown at the 2015 Judo World Championship held in Astana, capital of Kazakhstan, local media reported.
Pareto, runner-up at 2015 Toronto Pan-American Games, beat Japanese Haruna asami by less penalties in the final.
En route to the final, she won the total five fights, winning over Vietnamese Ngoc Tu Van (waza-ari), Belgian Charline Van Snick (less penalties), Hungarian Eva Csernoviczki (ippon) and South Korean Bo Kyeong Jeong (yuko).
Third place was for Brazilian Nathalia Brigida, who won over Japanese Ami Kondo.
