English.news.cn   2015-08-21 23:30:08

BRUSSELS, Aug. 21 (Xinhua) -- Units of the Standing NATO Maritime Group 2 (SNMG2) sailing in the Mediterranean Sea exchanged personnel to strengthen relationships between ships, NATO said in a press release Friday.

Currently the ships of SNMG2 are operating under the mandate of a NATO counter-terrorism operation with units from Canada, Germany, Spain and Turkey.

Sailors from each of the four nations climbed into speedboats and were ferried to their exchange ship.

"Fostering and strengthening the personal and professional relationships between the sailors of the ships is essential for a mutual understanding and good cooperation," said NATO.

SNMG2 units could each exchange up to five sailors for a period of time at sea.
