BEIJING, August 18 (Xinhuanet) -- Firefighters have been using drones to monitor the situation since the first day of the massive explosions in Tianjin.
The first explosion occurred around midnight, followed by another seconds later. Giant fireballs tore into the night sky, blowing out the windows from nearby buildings and setting new cars on fire.
Days after the initial explosions, white smoke still billowed, even though the major fires had been put out.
Drones controlled by the firefighting bureau were sent into the sky every day and captured the scene at the site. The footage is proving invaluable to experts to help them decide a plan of action.
The death toll has crossed the 100 mark, and a number of people, mostly firefighters, are still missing.
China's State Council has dispatched a work group to direct rescue and emergency response.
