Islamic Radios and Televisions Union launches U-NEWS news agency

TEHRAN, Aug. 16 (Xinhua) -- The Islamic Radios and Televisions Union (IRTVU) launched U-NEWS news agency in Iran's capital Tehran on Sunday to cover the events of the Islamic states, state IRIB TV reported.

The U-NEWS will produce news and stories related to the Islamic states and the "resistance" front including Syria, Lebanon, Yemen and Bahrain, according to IRIB.

The Syria's Information Minister Omran al-Zoubi and other officials and media representatives from Islamic countries participated in the inauguration ceremony of the U-NEWS held on the sidelines of the eighth General Assembly of the IRTVU, kicked off here in Tehran on Sunday.

The news release would be available at www.u.news.net, according to IRIB.

Representatives from 35 countries have attended the IRTVU conference, and among them former Iraqi prime minister Nour al-Maliki and al-Zoubi are scheduled to make speeches.
