HONG KONG, Aug.13 (Xinhua) -- An earthquake measuring 6.8 on the Richter scale jolted 175km SE of Gizo, Solomon Islands at 18: 49:27 GMT on Wednesday, the U.S. Geological Survey said.
The epicenter, with a depth of 39.0 km, was initially determined to be at 9.301 degrees south latitude and 157.891 degrees east longitude.
