Seeded Chinese players trash their opponents in badminton worlds

JAKARTA, Aug. 12 (Xinhua) -- Seeded Chinese players advanced to the next round on Wednesday after beating their respectively opponentes at the badminton world championships.

In the earliest match held on Wednesday, world No. 1 Chen Long trashed Raul Must 21-15, 21-17 in just 34 minutes.

Lin Dan of China easily took down his opponent Daniel Paiola from Brazil 21-14, 21-14.

Speaking at a press conference after the match Lin Dan said that even though his opponent was not strong, he took the match seriously as he planned to demonstrate his best.

"I am aware that my presence in the current tournament could be my last performance in world badminton championship," the 32-year-old Lin Dan said.

In the men's doubles, world No. 5 Fu Haifeng/Zhang Nan defeated Michael Fuchs/Johannes Schoettler of Germany 21-13 and 21-8.

Yu Yang/Wang Xiaoli also had an easy victory, beating their British contenders Heather/Lauren Smith 21-9 and 21-12 in the women's doubles.
