Tokyo stocks fall 1.58 pct following yuan's devaluation

TOKYO, Aug. 12 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks fell 1.58 percent on Wednesday after China's central bank weakened the yuan.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average was down 327.98 points, from Tuesday at 20,392.77. The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange dropped 21.85 points, or 1.29 percent, to 1,665.75.

Decliners were led by iron and steel, mining and nonferrous metal issues.

The turnover was 3,037.37 billion yen (about 24.25 billion U.S. dollars).
