TOKYO, Aug. 10 (Xinhua) -- Only 23 percent of Japanese showed strong interest in volunteering for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics, a Cabinet Office survey has revealed.
While more than 80 percent of the respondents were interested in the Olympics, those who expressed strong willingness to do volunteering work accounted for only 22.7 percent, far below the 30.2 percent shown in a similar polling carried out in 1996 regarding the 1998 Winter Olympic Games in Nagano, central Japan.
The survey was conducted late June and reached 3,000 adults across Japan.
