BEIJING, Aug. 7 (Xinhuanet) -- Business Conditions Index (BCI) and Consumer Sentiment Index (CSI) of Malaysia in the second quarter dropped to below 100 points synchronously, indicating that companies and customers were both pessimistic, according to the figure published by Malaysia Institute of Economic Research (MIER).
Due to customers’ fear about the economy and the dual burden of consumption tax and rising prices of gasoline, CSI in the period dropped to 72.6 points, a decline for four consecutive quarters and also the lowest mark in six years.
The CEO of MIER said only strong employment and stock market could stimulate consumption, however, neither has shown any positive signs.
