DHAKA, July 23 (Xinhua) -- At least 14 people were killed and 20 others injured on Thursday in two separate road accidents in Bangladesh, where poor road and traffic regulations kill thousands each year.

One accident took place in Gazipur on the outskirts of capital Dhaka on Thursday afternoon. At least eight people died on the spot as a train crashed into a van carrying them at an unmanned railroad crossing.

A police official said the driver of the van was also killed in the collision.

There are many unmanned level crossing along the Bangladesh Railway across the country, where most tracks of the railway are in a dilapidated condition, which often cause accidents.

At least six people were reported to have been killed in another road accident on Thursday in Tangail. At least 20 people were also injured when a bus carrying them veered off the road and fell into a ditch.
