ATHENS, July 15 (Xinhua) -- Anti-austerity protests organized by trade unions and opposition parties on Wednesday evening in front of the Greek parliament have been marred with violent clashes which broke out between protestors and anti-riot police.
Dozens of anti-establishment youth started pelting rocks and fire bombs against police forces after infiltrating the rally staged by the umbrella union of public servants ADEDY and Leftist parties.
Police responded by firing tear gas canisters to disperse the crowd. No injuries have been reported.
The scuffles started as the assembly was debating a critical draft bill for the ratification of the debt deal reached with creditors in Brussels on Monday as part of efforts to avert a looming default and Grexit.
