Australian unemployment rate relatively steady

SYDNEY, July 9 (Xinhua) -- The Australian unemployment rate just 0.1 percent in June compared to May.

Australian Bureau of Statistics data released on Thursday showed it rose from 5.9 percent to 6 percent.

But the data also showed 24,500 fulltime jobs were added compared to a decrease of 17,200 part time jobs.

Economists earlier surveyed by Bloomberg had predicted a rise to 6.1 percent in June.

In further positive economic data, the number of hours estimated to have been worked by Australians last month rose 0.3 percent.
