SHANGHAI, June 30 (Xinhua) -- Chinese government will support domestic hospitals to promote Chinese medicine worldwide, an official said on Tuesday.

Domestic hospitals should foster ties with hospitals run by overseas Chinese and set up Chinese medicine centers abroad, said Tan Tianxing, deputy director of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council.

As part of the Chinese medicine initiative, leading Chinese medicine institutions will help train overseas professionals to improve their clinical expertise.

Experienced Chinese medicine practitioners will also hold various events to promote knowledge of Chinese medicine and help overseas Chinese.

Tan said Chinese medicine institutions must adapt themselves to local policies, laws and culture when going global.

In June, delegations made up of Chinese medicine professionals have been sent to Belgium, Angola and Mauritius, the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office said.
