BEIJING, April 30 (Xinhuanet) -- Malaysia's semiconductor export will be adversely affected by global economic slowdown, said Mustapa Mohamed,Malaysian Minister of International Trade and Industry.

Speaking at the opening of NEPCON Malaysia: Malaysia's Only Event for Electronics Manufacturing Industry, he said the proportion of Malaysia's semiconductor in global exports will probably drop from 8 percent in 2014 to 5 percent by 2015.

At the same time, he added, the investment in manufacturing industries jumped by 38 percent in 2014 to reach 71.9 billion ringgit (about 20.3 billion U.S. dollars) including 11.1 billion ringgit in electronics and electrical industries.

Electronics and electrical industries are still the main driver of economic growth in Malaysia, he added.
