Former Selecao midfielder Carvalho joins Botafogo

RIO DE JANEIRO, April 28 (Xinhua) -- Former Brazil international midfielder Daniel Carvalho has signed with Botafogo until the end of the season.

The 32-year-old said on Tuesday that his seven year-old son, Joao Paulo, provided the reason for his return to football after a year out of the game.

"It was my son who motivated me. Last year when I wasn't playing I took him to the Beira-Rio stadium [in Porto Alegre] to watch games involving Internacional," Carvalho said during a press conference.

"He now understands football. When I heard him sing the national anthem at matches it gave me goosebumps. That's what made me want to come back and play. I want to go back onto the pitch and see him supporting me. Nothing makes me happier than to know he is going to watch me play football."

Carvalho is expected to make his debut for the Rio de Janeiro club against Capivariano in the Copa do Brasil on Wednesday.

The former CSKA Moscow player has scored two goals from three international matches for Brazil.
