JAKARTA, April 23 (Xinhua) -- Xie Feng, Chinese Ambassador to Indonesia, has urged for reinvigorating the Bandung Spirit and advancing the Sino-Indonesian comprehensive strategic partnership.

The Chinese ambassador made the remarks in an article published Thursday in local English newspaper the Jakarta Post.

The newspaper dedicated a whole page to commemorate the 65th anniversary of the establishment of China-Indonesia diplomatic relations and the 60th anniversary of the Asian-African Conference, also known as the Bandung Conference.

"The Asian-African Conference was a landmark in China's diplomacy, " said the Chinese ambassador in his article.

He said the Chinese delegation led by then Premier Zhou Enlai showed commitment to principles and extensively engaged Asian and African delegations.

"The conference became a significant milestone in the history of international relations," said the ambassador.

He reviewed the Ten Principles of Bandung and Five Principles of Peaceful Co-existence, which were adopted during the 1955 Conference.

The conference also forged the Bandung Spirit, which highlights peace, solidarity, friendship, cooperation, peaceful co-existence and seeking common ground while reserving difference.

"Together, we created the Bandung Spirit, promoted Asian- African solidarity and cooperation, and made major contributions to the success of the conference," said the ambassador.

He also hailed "the extraordinary journey and historic progress " in bilateral relations between China and Indonesia over the past 65 years.

"Our two countries are both committed to further enriching the China-Indonesia comprehensive strategic partnership, delivering more tangible benefits to our two peoples and upholding peace, stability and prosperity of the Asia-Pacific region."

The article was published during the ongoing Asian-African Conference 2015, which runs until April 24, hosting leaders from both continents including Chinese President Xi Jinping.
