HO CHI MINH CITY, March 24 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam's top tennis player Ly Hoang Nam on Tuesday moved up 15 steps in the International Tennis Federation (ITF)'s latest junior rankings to stand at the 34th spot.

Nam's ranking shot up after he accumulated 250 points more after winning both men's singles and doubles events at the 25th Sarawak Chief Minister's Cup (Group 1) ITF Junior Tennis Championship in Malaysia.

He is the first Vietnamese who won a Grade 1 international tournament.

With his new ranking, the teenager, born in 1997, secured a berth to compete at the 2015 French Open at Roland Garros, Paris this June.

Nam will also be a key player on the national team, which is set to compete in the 28th Southeast Asian Games in June in Singapore, according to the Vietnam Tennis Federation.

Earlier this year, the young tennis star had reached the second round of the Australian Open Junior Championships and advanced to the finals at the Chang Thailand ITF Junior G1.
