Cambodia, U.S. to conduct military exercise in peacekeeping, rescue

PHNOM PENH, March 6 (Xinhua) -- The Royal Cambodian Armed Forces and U.S. Army Pacific will hold a joint military exercise in western Cambodia's Kampong Speu province from March 7 to 20, a U.S. Embassy's press statement said Friday.

Angkor Sentinel is an annual bilateral exercise sponsored by U. S. Army Pacific and hosted by the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces that focuses on providing humanitarian assistance and responding to disasters. "This year marks the sixth iteration of this significant and highly-productive regional training exercise,"the statement said. "Training will focus on humanitarian assistance and disaster relief operations."

Major exercise activities include a Command Post Exercise, Engineer Civic Action Project, Engineer Expert Academic Exchange ( EAE), Junior Leader EAE, Explosive Ordnance Disposal, Medical First Responder EAE and a Jungle Operations/Survival EAE, it said.

The exercise will take place at the Training School for Multinational Peacekeeping Forces in Kampong Speu province, about 70 km west of capital Phnom Penh.
