SANTIAGO, Feb. 17 (Xinhua) -- At least 18 people were killed early Tuesday in central Port-au-Prince, capital of Haiti, after their carnival float made deadly contact with a power line, said reports reaching here.

About 60 others were injured in the tragedy, in which witnesses were quoted as saying someone on the float used a stick to move the high-voltage power line so that the float could pass under it.
