BERLIN, Feb. 15 (Xinhua) -- The German city of Braunschweig
cancelled a carnival parade on Sunday because of a "concrete
endangerment by an attack with Islamist background", German media
reported.
The police has requested all visitors "not to come to the parade
route or even not to make the trip to Braunschweig," German media
Focus Online reported.
Reliable sources of Germany's state security apparatus believed
there was a specific threat by an attack with Islamist background,
according to the report.
The information had been received in the night and evaluated in
the morning, according to a police spokesman.
The report said the police had made it clear that the danger
"must be taken very seriously".
The parade should have started at 1120 GMT on Sunday in
Braunschweig. Braunschweig's carnival parade is one of the biggest
in Germany and attracts up to 300,000 visitors each year.
