SINGAPORE, Jan. 7 (Xinhua) -- Singapore stocks finished higher on Wednesday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) up 16. 41 points, or 0.5 percent, to close at 3,298.36.
A total of 1.87 billion shares changed hands with turnover of 1. 09 billion Singapore dollars (820 million U.S. dollars).
Gainers outnumbered decliners 217 to 181, while 542 others finished unchanged.
The STI index lost 46.33 points, or 1.39 percent, to close at 3, 281.95 on Tuesday.
