PANGKALAN BUN, Indonesia, Jan. 6 (Xinhua) -- Indonesian military would provide plane and ships for families of passengers who perished in AirAsia flight 8501 crash in Indonesian waters, Commander General Moeldoko said here Tuesday.
"I would prepare ships or a C-130 Hercules plane that can go there anytime," Moeldoko told a press conference held here after he visited the U.S. Navy ship USS Sampson and Indonesian navy ship via a U.S. Navy helicopter.
He said that the military's facilitation for families of the passengers on the doomed plane came up after he met with them in Surabaya crisis center saw the difficulties faced by searchers in the search areas.
"So they can see how bad the situation that developed in the crash site. Or else, they can pour flowers to respect their killed relatives as the crash location has already confirmed," Moeldoko said, adding that he sensed the grief and wishes of the victims' families for the recovery of their relatives' bodies.
Moeldoko also said that more Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROV) would be deployed to conduct additional mapping of the search area so as to make the search more efficient.
"The more ROV would create new searching area maps in anticipating the shifting of the plane's wreckage due to strong undersea stream," he said, adding that undersea stream around in the search area was recorded at 3 to 5 knots.
Moeldoko conveyed Indonesia's deepest respect and gratitude to countries joining the search operation via military attaches of these countries, including the United States, Malaysia, Singapore, Australia, Japan and Russia.
Meanwhile, two more bodies from the doomed plane were transferred to Indonesia's command post, raising the number of bodies received by the post to 39. Those bodies were recovered by Malaysian and Japanese navy ships earlier Tuesday.
Operation to search for wreckage of AirAsia QZ8501 has been hampered by bad weather.
Indonesian authority has detected several objects believed to be body parts of the crashed plane.
The search has been focused on seeking flight and voice data recorder which has yet to transmit beacon as it supposed to.
A total of 162 passengers and crew members were onboard the ill- fated plane serving Surabaya to Singapore flight when the jet crashed into the Java Sea on Dec. 28.
