PHNOM PENH, Dec. 30 (Xinhua) -- Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen has expressed his condolences to the family members of the passengers on board the AirAsia Flight QZ8501 which went missing over the Java Sea off Indonesia on Sunday.
He was deeply shocked to learn of the missing plane of AirAsia over the Java Sea, flying from Surabaya in Indonesia to Singapore, Hun Sen said in separate messages of condolences sent to Indonesian President Joko Widodo and Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak on Monday and the messages were released to the media on Tuesday.
In the messages, he extended his deepest sympathy and profound condolences to Indonesia and Malaysia as well as the bereaved families for such huge loss in the most unfortunate and tragic incident.
The AirAsia passenger plane with 162 people aboard lost contact with ground control on Sunday after it departed from Surabaya in Indonesia's East Java province to Singapore.
Established in 2001, AirAsia, a Malaysia-based budget airline, has dominated cheap traveling in the region for years with about 100 destinations.
