TOKYO, Dec. 29 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo shares lost ground Monday after a man returned here from Sierra Leone developing a fever and was being tested for possible Ebola infection.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average edged down 89.12 points, or 0.50 percent, from Friday at 17,729.84.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was down 2.83 points, or 0.20 percent, at 1, 424.67.
Decliners were led by oil and coal, mining and real estate issues.
The turnover was about 1,796.6 billion yen (about 14.94 billion U.S. dollars).
