Tibet's "5100", "Zangyuan" become famous trademarks in China

    BEIJING, Feb. 9 (Xinhuanet) -- Tibet's 5100 Glacier mineral water and Zangyuan Highland Barley Liquor have become famous trademarks in China, according to a work conference held by the Regional Industrial and Commercial Administration.

    Duan Xiangzheng, director of the administration, said the region has received 212 newly registered trademarks so far this year.

    Tibet has had a total of 1,562 valid trademarks by now. with six famous ones, according to the official.

    The administration will focus on the protection of famous trademarks, including those involving foreign companies and geographical indications and crack down on trademark infringement and fake trademarks, Duan said.

    The key task for this year is to provide a better intellectual property environment for the upcoming Shanghai World Expo and encourage local enterprises to apply for more famous trademarks, he added.
