TEHRAN, Jan. 17 (Xinhua) -- A local security force official in Iran's Khorasan Razavi Province said Sunday that a Saturday night blast in Iran's northeastern city of Mashhad was the result of a "teenager's adventurism," local ISNA news agency reported.

The Saturday's blast in the holy city of Mashhad was not politically motivated but the result of a teenager's adventurism, with no political affiliation involved in the issue, Amirollah Shamaqdari was quoted as saying.

An 18-year-old boy who carried a hand-made bomb in Mashhad city died from his wounds by the blast on the way to hospital.

The blast occurred near the provincial governor's office with adventurist motives, Shamaqdari said, adding that the bomber was carrying explosives when he lost his life over it.

No others were killed or wounded by the blast.

The bomber together with two other teenagers about 18 had no political motivation or plan for an operation, said Shamaqdari.
