Botafogo start season off with victory

    RIO DE JANEIRO, Jan. 16 (Xinhua) -- Brazilian soccer team Botafogo won their opener of the 2010 Rio de Janeiro state championship after beating Macae 3-2 on Saturday.

    All five goals of the match came in the first half with Botafogo jumping to an early lead when the team's new signing Herrera headed home in the 2nd minute.

    Macae responded quickly, scoring in the 4th minute when Andre scored through a corner kick. Macae temporarily took the lead when Fernandao shot from close range in the 32nd minute.

    Botafogo tied the match in the 36th minute through Lucio Flavioand the team's another new arrival Marcelo Cordeiro helped seal the victory.
