NICOSIA, Jan 15 (Xinhua) -- Cyprus police have arrested three men on suspicion of being the killers of a leading broadcaster and publishers earlier this week.
Police investigators got eight day remand orders on Friday against the three after telling a court they had obtained evidence directly linking them to the murder.
The high profile murder of Antis Hadjicostis, the 43-year-oldCEO of Disa Media Group, owning a television station and a newspaper was committed last Monday night.
He was shot twice with a sown-off shotgun outside his house, next to the heavily guarded embassy of the United States and the embassy of France.
The court procedure for remanding the men in custody was held in a hospital room where one of the suspects is being treated for leg injuries he received when a bomb went off under his car three weeks ago.
An investigator told the court evidence against the suspects had been obtained after a judge had allowed the police to examine mobile telephone records.
He also said the suspects themselves told other people they had committed the murder.
A police source said a fourth man allegedly involved in the killing is to be arrested any moment.
Police said the killing was not connected with the hard line editorial policy of Dias Media Group towards negotiations on the Cyprus problem.
Investigators are also looking for those who had commissioned the murder among people who had financial and business dealings with the deceased.
