ANKARA, Jan. 15 (Xinhua) -- Turkey will offer 1 million U.S. dollars of financial aid and send 10 tons of relief materials to Haiti to help the quake-devastated country, Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Cemil Cicek said Friday.

    The relief materials include medicine, medical equipment, tents, blankets and foodstuff and will be carried by a military cargo plane, Cicek was quoted by the semi-official Anatolia news agency as saying.

    A 20-person health team will also be dispatched to the Caribbean island country, he said.

    "I commiserate with Haitian people who lost their beloved ones in the disaster," he added.

    Tens of thousands of people were buried under debris after a 7.3-magnitude earthquake hit Haiti on Tuesday, the strongest quake in about 200 years in the country.
