LOS ANGELES, Jan. 15 (Xinhua) -- A telethon originating from Los Angeles, New York and Haiti will be broadcast on all major networks next week to raise funds for Haiti earthquake victims, organizers announced on Friday.

The two-hour telethon will be broadcast from the three locations, with actor George Clooney hosting in Los Angeles, musician Wyclef Jean hosting in New York City and CNN's Anderson Cooper broadcasting from Haiti. The event will begin at 5 p.m. California time on Jan. 22.

The "Hope for Haiti" telethon will be broadcast on ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox CNN, BET, The CW, HBO, MTV, VH1 and CMT. The telecast will also be made available to MTV Networks International, CNN International and National Geographic channels worldwide.

Proceeds will benefit Oxfam America, Partners in Health, the Red Cross, UNICEF and Jean's Yele Haiti Foundation.

Officials with MTV said the telethon will include musical performances and celebrity appearances, but a list of participants was not immediately announced.

A magnitude-7 earthquake rocked the Caribbean island nation on Tuesday. The death toll could be between 45,000 and 50,000, with a further 3 million affected, according to Haitian Red Cross officials.
