LOS ANGELES, Jan. 15 (Xinhua) -- Customs officials announced on Friday that a quarter million counterfeit movie and music DVDs have been seized at the Los Angeles/Long Beach port complex.

The DVDs were found inside a container that was shipped from South Korea, said Cristina Gamez of U.S. Customs and Border Protection. But no arrests were reported.

With an estimated street sale value of 204,904 U.S. dollars, the DVDs had counterfeit trademarks and had a "manufacturer's suggested retail price" that added up to about 7.1 million dollars, Gamez said.

"When customs officials inspected the shipment, they discovered counterfeit 'DVD,' 'Dolby' and 'DTS' trademark designs in the packaging," Gamez said.

The shipment was seized under a law prohibiting the illegal importation of merchandise bearing counterfeit trademarks, Gamez said.
