BEIJING, Jan. 15 (Xinhua) -- The United Nation World Food Program (WFP), currently in cooperation with China Foundation for Poverty Alleviation (CFPA), is encouraging more relief donations from Chinese individuals and organizations following the 7.3-magnitude quake in Haiti.

The CFPA published on its official website (www.fupin.org.cn) Friday channels of donation either via bank transfer, remittance or mobile phone text messages.

"I am grateful for the strong willingness from Chinese enterprises and individuals to offer help," said director of WFP China Anthea Webb, hoping for more cooperation with Chinese organizations who want to join the humanitarian actions.

Webb said at least hundreds of millions of U.S. dollars were required to help around 2 million quake-affected people in the poor country.

The UN agency started distributing food in a makeshift hospital and schools in Port-au-Prince for some 2,400 locals Thursday.

On Wednesday, more than 3,000 people in southern Haiti's Jacmel City received food from the WFP.

The WFP also planned to set up temporary kitchens in the region.

"We have established a logistics hub in neighboring Dominican Republic and has begun acquiring a coastal vessel to help deliver food assistance," Webb said.

China's rescue team in Haiti had established the first movable medical point by 9:00 a.m. local time on Thursday and provided medical aid to 110 injured Haitians, according to sources with the country's General Hospital of Armed Police Forces.

China's Red Cross Society has also pledged 1 million U.S. dollars in emergency aid.
