LUANDA, Jan. 15 (Xinhua) -- The Angolan government has filed a criminal lawsuit against the suspected attackers of the bus carrying Togo's national soccer team, the official news agency Ago reported on Friday.

Gunmen attacked Togo team's bus in Cabinda Province of Angola on Jan. 8, killing the Angolan driver, the assistant coach and spokesman of the Togo team.

Angolan Foreign Minister Afonso Assuncao dos Anjos said the Angolan government would file suit in the judicial organs of France and Switzerland against an Angolan citizen responsible of the attack, but he did not disclose his identity.

The Front for the Liberation of Enclave of Cabinda (FLEC), a separatist group in Cabinda, claimed responsibility for attacking the bus carrying the Togo soccer team to group B matches of the African Nations Cup.

Some FLEC leaders are believed to be living in France, including Rodrigues Mingas, secretary general of a faction of the group known as FLEC/PM, which issued a statement threatening to carry out further attacks in Cabinda.

The foreign minister said Angola had opened criminal proceedings against those responsible for the attack, allowing it to pursue suspects in French and Swiss courts. He said the deadly ambush had been "claimed by a citizen living in French territory."

The Angolan government has asked for an international arrest warrant to be issued against both Mingas and Nzita Tiago, another FLEC leader believed to be living in France.
