BANGKOK, Jan. 15 (Xinhua) -- Thailand's Prime Minister on Friday announced a list of five new ministers in a minor Cabinet reshuffle, which he said will be submitted for the royal approval, Thai News Agency reported.
Abhisit Vejjajiva told reporters that the qualifications of the five nominated new ministers have already got verification from the Secretariat of the Cabinet.
The list of new ministers, to wait for approve from the King, is including Deputy Prime minister for economic matters Trairong Suwankiri, Public Health Minister Jurin Laksanavisit, Deputy Public Health Minister Pansiri Kulnartsiri, Education Minister Chinnaworn Boonyakiat and Deputy Transport Minister Suchart Chokechaiwattanakorn.
The Abhisit-led Democrat Party executives earlier selected deputy leader and senior MP Trairong as deputy premier in charge of economic affairs, to replace Korbsak Sabhavasu who resigned from the post and was then reappointed new Secretary-General to the Prime Minister.
Government Chief Whip Chinnaworn Boonyakiat will assume education minister, while the current Minister of Education Jurin Laksanawisit is to take over the public health ministry.
The former Publice Health Minister Witthaya Kaewparadai resigned on Dec. 29, 2009 after a panel found the ministry's mismanagement of its 86-billion-baht (about 2.62 billion U.S. dollars) budget for procurement under the Thai Khemkhaeng (Strong Thailand) stimulus package.
Deputy Public Health Minister Manit Nop-amornbodi also quit his job last week under the government pressure and public criticism.
The premier said that the Bhumjaithai Party selected Phansiri Kulnardsiridamrong to take over Manit's post.
Phansiri is a sister of Somsak Thepsuthin, leader of the Matchimathipatai fraction in the Bhumchaithai Party.
Abhisit also said that Deputy Minister of Transport Prachak Kaewklaharn from the Bhumchaithai Party submitted his resignation Thursday and Suchart Chokechaiwattanakorn will succeed him in that post.
When asked whether there will be a major reshuffle after the no-confidence motion, the premier said that the government will evaluate the situation again after the debate.
