LAGOS, Jan. 15 (Xinhua) -- The Nigerian House of Representatives has condemned the alleged failed attempt by Farouk Muttallab, a 23-year old Nigerian, to bomb a Detroit bound Delta airline on Dec. 25, 2009.

Members of the House, which resumed from their Christmas and New Year break on Jan. 12, urged the United States to rescind its decision to classify the country as such.

The House mandated its committees on Diaspora, National Security and Intelligence and Foreign Affairs to investigate the matter and report back to it in two weeks.

It urged the Nigerian government to adopt immediate diplomatic measures that would ensure that Nigeria is de-listed from the said list of countries of interest.

The House also mandated the Committee on Foreign Affairs to invite Minister of Foreign Affairs Ojo Maduekwe to brief it on the steps taken to resolve the matter.
