JAKARTA, Jan. 15 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia's Speaker of House of Representatives Marzuki Alie said on Friday that members of parliament must endorse ethics in investigating cases to build good image among public.

Marzuki told reporters that officials summoned by the parliament to provide information and the members of parliament have equal position.

"As they are in an equal position, they should respect each other. Don't interrupt when witnesses are giving information. Give them time to think and then to talk. Don't always expect yes or no for answers. Not all questions could be answered by yes or no. Sometimes, witnesses must remember things before providing a blatant answer," said Marzuki.

Marzuki made the statement to comment progress in the parliamentary Special Committee on Banking Bailout of Bank Century worth 6.7 trillion rupiah (670 million U.S. dollars).

He said that the attitude will help the members of parliament in getting information as clearly as possible.

Marzuki also said that President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has spotted the issue and expressed his concern related to it.

However, Marzuki said that his comment had nothing to do with the president's concern.

"Although I come from the same party with the president, I do not represent him in this case," said Marzuki, referring to the Democratic Party, the biggest party in the country.
