TOKYO, Jan. 15 (Xinhua) -- A man holding what appeared to be a Molotov cocktail was arrested near the residence of Democratic Party of Japan (DPJ) Secretary General Ichiro Ozawa's residence onFriday.

Hiroyuki Tsukui, 40, identified himself as a member of a right-wing organization and allegedly charged at a police officer in theearly hours of Friday morning.

Tsukui arrived at the scene after being driven there by a friend. He was carrying a Hinomaru flag and a bottle with tissue in the top of it. Police initially thought the bottle contained gas, but it was later confirmed to be full of water.

The bottle fell to the ground and nobody was injured in the incident. Tsukui was arrested on suspicion of obstructing police.

Ozawa has become a controversial figure in Japan after it emerged that his financial body had failed to declare hundreds of millions of yen. The politician is also suspected of pulling the strings of the DPJ from behind the scenes.

The DPJ kingmaker has refused to voluntarily speak to prosecutors on the issue of financial irregularities.
