BUDAPEST, Jan. 14 (Xinhua) -- Railway union VDSZSZ held a four-hour strike on Thursday, in support of Budapest public transport workers, who are in the third day of a work stoppage.
According to Hungarian Railways MAV, only 3 percent of night shift workers walked off the job and all staff appeared for the morning shift.
Nonetheless, the primary railway station in the northeastern industrial center of Miskolc was unable to operate and there were major delays in the southeastern city of Szeged where several conductors walked off the job.
Budapest's three major railway stations reported only minor delays.
All trains are expected to be back on schedule by early afternoon.
Meanwhile, very few Budapest buses are running as 14 unions representing workers at the Budapest Transport Company BKV continue a strike that has been underway since Tuesday, causing gridlock in Hungary's capital city as commuters continue to use cars and bicycles.
A ground crew strike at Budapest's Ferihegy International Airport is not expected to cause major delays, airport officials reported.
