MACAO, Jan. 14 (Xinhua) -- Macao's Public Security Police (PSP) has arrested a suspected pimp from the Chinese mainland as it busted a brothel operating at a local illegal inn, the Macao Post Daily reported on Thursday.
The suspected pimp, a 27-year-old man surnamed Chen, was arrested when the police raided the brothel Wednesday, the daily quoted a PSP spokesman as saying. The police also found four women from the Chinese mainland in the brothel who allegedly work as prostitutes.
Later that day, five local women who distributed leaflets advertising sex service for the brothel on the street were also arrested by the police. The five leaflet distributors claimed that they have never met the female mastermind behind the racket, who was still wanted by the police, in person before, according to the spokesman.
The suspects have been transferred to Macao's Public Prosecution for further investigations. Although pimping is against law in Macao, prostitution is not considered a crime here.
