JAKARTA, Jan. 14 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia's Former Vice President Jusuf Kalla on Thursday will testify before parliament on a bailout case of Bank Century as he is considered to know much about it.
According to a schedule, Kalla was supposed to face the parliament on Wednesday. However, due to a technical problem, he will do so on Thursday.
Hendrawan Supratikno, a member of parliamentary special committee handling the case, said that Kalla's position was very important at the moment given he was the interim president as President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono was abroad.
"Did he receive report about the case? Because Mr. Kalla has said that the bank was robbed by its owner," Hendrawan told the private television MetroTV.
Hendrawan said that the statement became a huge public attention.
Critics said that the bailout, worth 670 trillion rupiah (670 million U.S. dollars), posed loss for the country's finance.
However, Finance Minister Sri Mulyani said the country did not lose the money as the bank still exists with its new name of Bank Mutiara.
