RIO DE JANEIRO, Jan. 13 (Xinhua) -- Sao Paulo fullback Miranda rejected a 20 million U.S. dollars deal offered by German Bundesliga side Wolfsburg on Wednesday.

Miranda said he wants to stay with the club to boost his chances of a World Cup berth and the decision is also because of his recently born son Lucas.

"For the first time in my life I witnessed a player refuse a multi-million dollar deal. However, coming from Miranda, I am not surprised. The player is full of character and is a man of his word. He claims that he has a lot of good reasons to stay with SaoPaulo," said Macro Aurelio Cunha, a top official with the Brazilian club.
