PARIS, Jan. 13 (Xinhua) -- A French serviceman was killed Wednesday in eastern Afghanistan, the third one in three days, the Defense Ministry said.
The latest attack brought French military death toll to 39 in Afghanistan since the U.S.-led invasion in 2001. Two French soldiers were injured during the same explosion aimed at a convoy of French and Afghan forces near Bagram in east Afghanistan.
A Monday attack near the Afghan capital Kabul killed one French soldier and hurt another, who died Tuesday, according to the Defense Ministry.
There are nearly 110,000 foreign troops deployed in Afghanistan under the United States and NATO command, including some 3,750 French soldiers.
U.S. President Barack Obama promised in December last year to send 30,000 more troops to the restive Asian country, which will bring the number of U.S.-NATO troops to more than 130,000.
