ROME, Jan. 13 (Xinhua) -- Italian industrial production index increased by 0.2 percent in November 2009 compared with the previous month, an official statistics institute said Wednesday.

    The average index of September to November of 2009 fell 0.1 percent, compared to the previous three months, according to the Italian National Institute of Statistics (Istat).

    In the meantime, car production in November 2009 made a rapid growth, with a 28-percent rise compared with the same period of 2008, Istat said.

    However, the industrial production index of November 2009 fell by 7.9 percent compared with November 2008.

    In the period of January to November of 2009, the index fell 18.4 percent compared with the same period of 2008.

    During the first 11 months of 2009, car production was also sharply down by 24.6 percent compared with the same period of 2008.
