HANOI, Jan. 13 (Xinhua) -- The senior officials of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) meet here on Wednesday to make preparations for the three upcoming ASEAN ministerial meetings scheduled for Thursday.

The three ASEAN meetings include the ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Retreat, the third ASEAN Political Security Council (APSC) Meeting, and the Special ASEAN Coordinating Council (ACC) Meeting.

The senior officials reviewed the tentative program and provisional agenda for the three meetings.

The officials agreed on the topics for discussions by the foreign ministers at the ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Retreat, which include the ASEAN Community building and ASEAN's external relations.

They recommended that ministers at the APSC meeting focus their discussions on developments in bodies under the ASEAN Political Security Council and the implementation of the APSC Blueprint.

They also made recommendations to the foreign ministers regarding cooperation within ASEAN and between ASEAN and its partners. They discussed the APSC Communication Plan and the ASEAN's response to the outcome to the Copenhagen Summit on Climate Change.

The next meeting of ASEAN senior officials is expected to be held in March in Vietnam.
