MOSCOW, Jan. 13 (Xinhua) -- Russian National Football Academy announced on Wednesday that it will no longer pay wages for Russian national team coach Guus Hiddink.

Sergei Kapkov, Head of the Russian National Football Academy, told reporters that after consultations with Vitaly Mutko, former president of Russian Football Union (RFU), a decision was made that the academy will no longer pay Hiddink's wages starting from Jan. 1, 2010.

As on who would pay the wages, it will be determined after the RFU elected a new president in February, added Kapkov.

The National Football Academy, financed by Russian magnate Roman Abramovich, injected 5 million U.S. dollars in Dec. 2008 into RFU's account to guarantee Hiddink's wages.

The RFU will elect a new president on Feb. 3, after Mutko also as the incumbent Minister of Sport, Tourism and Youth resigned late last year.

Hiddink, who began to coach Russia's national soccer team in 2006, led the squad to the semi-finals of Euro 2008.

His current contract will expire this summer after the 2010 World Cup, and the RFU has offered an extended contract until Euro2012, to which Hiddink has not committed.

Italian media have reported that the 63-year-old Dutchman was set to coach Juventus, after he failed to lead Russia to South Africa.
