Bateer, Swift win third-week's MVP in CBA

    BEIJING, Jan. 13 (Xinhua) -- Menk Bateer of Xinjiang Guanghui and Stromile Swift won Wednesday the Most Valuable Player awards in the third week (Jan. 3-8) of the Chinese Basketball Association league (CBA).

    Bateer won the award of the domestic players when he averaged 14.0 points and 9.0 rebounds to lead Xinjiang to a 3-0 record.

    Swift was the best among the foreign players as he contributed 28.7 points and 17.3 rebounds when Shandong ran 2-1 in the week.

    Shandong's Sui Wei won the Rookie of the Week award as he averaged 11.3 points, 5.3 rebounds, 5.3 assists and 2.3 steals per game.

    The Rookie of the Week award was set up this season for the young players who had played the league no more than two seasons.
