MACAO, Jan. 13 (Xinhua) -- The dead body of a man from the Republic of Korea (ROK) was found to be strung up on a three-meter tall tree near a car park in Macao, and local police has classified the case as suspected homicide, the Macao Post Daily reported on Wednesday.

    The body was discovered early Tuesday morning, and the victim, identified as a 30-year-old ROK man, was hung by his neck from the tree by four ropes, the daily quoted a spokesman for Macao's Judiciary Police as saying.

    Following a preliminary investigation of the body, police believed the victim had died prior to being hung on the tree, and since the ropes around the body's neck were secured in such an elaborate way which was unlikely to have been done by the victim on his own, the case was classified as suspected homicide, according to the spokesman.

    Meanwhile, the spokesman also confirmed that the victim had at least six alleged criminal offenses on his record since September 2008, which included criminal damage, drug trafficking and drug abuse.

    The victim was believed to have no regular residence, and he had allegedly broken into cars and slept in them overnight before, according to the spokesman.

    The victim had been waiting for a trial and had been required to report to police regularly, but he failed to do so earlier this month, as none of his alleged crimes were sentenced so far, according to the daily.
