Hong Kong stocks open 1.42% lower

    HONG KONG, Jan. 13 (Xinhua) -- Hong Kong stocks shed 312.49 points, or 1.42 percent, to open at 21,990.68 on Wednesday, after China's central bank announced Tuesday it would raise bank reserve ratio.

    The benchmark Hang Seng Index widened its losses slightly shortly after the market opened, with heavyweight mainland banks losing 2.42-2.96 percent.
