MACAO, Jan. 12 (Xinhua) -- An under-16-year-old boy was caught here at a local convenience store when attempting to steal two packs of condoms, the Macao Post Daily reported on Tuesday.
The case was reported to Macao's Public Security Police (PSP) Monday afternoon as a sales assistant at a 24-hour convenience store caught the boy in the act, the daily quoted a PSP spokesperson as saying.
The boy, wearing a uniform of a school run by the local Roman-Catholic diocese, entered the store during his lunch break Monday, and the condoms he tried to steal was priced at 60 patacas (7.6 U.S. dollars), according to the daily.
Under the Macao Penal Code, minors under the age of 16 cannot be held criminally responsible for their deeds, but they can be ordered to undergo "non-penal" correctional measures such as mandatory counseling.
