Picture exhibition marks 60th anniversary of China-Vietnam ties

    BEIJING, Jan. 11 (Xinhua) -- A picture exhibition was held hereon Monday to mark the 60th anniversary of the establishment of China-Vietnam diplomatic relations.

    The more than 200 pictures on show were taken by photographers of the Xinhua News Agency (XNA) and Vietnam News Agency (VNA). They covered exchanges of visits of top leaders, bilateral cooperation in areas of trade, agriculture, culture and ship building, peoples' exchanges, as well as economic developments of the two countries over the past six decades.

    "The XNA and VNA, both serve as state news agencies, have been witnesses and recorders of the traditional friendship between the two peoples. The journalists of both organizations have taken down many important historic moments of the development of China-Vietnam relations through their pens and cameras," said Xinhua's Vice President Lu Wei.

    He said that the exhibition would help promote the traditional friendship between the two peoples and their mutual understanding, and cooperation between news media of the two countries.

    Ha Minh Hue, vice president of the VNA, said the exchanges and cooperation between the XNA and VNA will contribute to the development of China-Vietnam relations and the mutual understanding and trust between the two peoples.

    The exhibition, co-sponsored by the two news agencies, will be moved to Hanoi on Jan. 14.
